Why Use Ricotta Cheese in Lasagna?
Whey, the fluid that stays after milk has indeed been curdled and strained, is used to make a form of cheese called ricotta.
It tastes mildly sweet and has a creamy consistency. Because it interacts well with the other ingredients and imparts a rich flavor to the dish, ricotta cheese is frequently used in lasagna and other Italian meals.
Ricotta Cheese Substitutes in Lasagna
You can make lasagna without ricotta cheese by substituting cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, or even cream cheese.
Although it is less sweet than ricotta, cream cheese has a comparable texture. Greek yogurt is an excellent alternative as well because it is creamy and thick. While mascarpone will also work, the lasagna will become richer.
